Rainbow’s Free-Form Glass Owls

Sometimes owls were made free-form, rather than cast in a mold, as exemplified by these two owls. The white one bears a Rainbow Glass label, while the amber one is not marked, but is presumed to be made by Rainbow, since its shape is so similar to the marked one. The finish of the glass on these two is different, since the white one is frosted or satin glass (acid-treated to a matte finish), while the amber owl is glossy. Both have pinched up ears and beaks, with their eyes impressed by a tool when the glass was hot and plastic. Both are mostly two-dimensional, as the other photos demonstrate. Note the interesting views from the back of these owls in the last two photos, which make the facial features much less distinct on each.
